Three Cedars Farm – Fall in Michigan

I don’t love the cold Fall weather so typical of life in the Midwest. But I do love that all over the state of Michigan can be found hundreds of Apple Orchards and Farms where one can spend an entire day enjoying the bounty of nature. It’s kind of a “Mitten Thing” to have a favorite cider mill.  While I have my own list, I’m always open to exploring new options so I can find that perfect cinnamon sugar donut and cup of hot cider. It was part of that search that led me recently to fall hard for Three Cedars Farm!

Three Cedars Farm is owned and operated by the Whittaker Family and they make it a point to have family actually involved in the running of the farm. You can feel how that permeates the experience with a friendly, open air to the place that isn’t always found at other attractions.

Three Cedars Farm is open to the public seasonally in the Fall and Winter which is pretty typical of businesses like theirs in Michigan. From mid-September to the Friday after Thanksgiving; they offer hayrides, pumpkin picking, a donut & apple cider hut, gift shop, corn maze, barn yard play land and bonfire sites for rent. Starting the Friday after Thanksgiving, the Farm transforms into a Winter Wonderland of Christmas fun complete with a visit from Santa & Mrs. Claus. You can visit their website for more information or their Facebook page for all the latest news from the family! Make sure to add Three Cedars to your itinerary the next time you find yourself in South East Michigan. It’s an easy drive from Lansing and Detroit so no matter where you fly in from, you won’t have to go too far. Just don’t forget to try the cinnamon sugar donuts – theirs are the best I’ve had yet! Also, forget your credit card – they are a cash, or check only, establishment.

I have never been to something like this. Next time I visit the US I will definitely hunt it down and try out the apple cider with donuts.
