Where to Stay in Hood River Oregon

Where to Stay in Hood River, Oregon

My stay at the Columbia Cliff Villas was complimentary but the views and opinions expressed here are my own.

When I arrived in Hood River, Oregon it was raining. I wish I could say I was surprised. However I’d been warned about the rain in the Pacific Northwest. I was prepared to spend time indoors or simply, get wet. I wasn’t prepared, to really enjoy spending time indoors.

When Steve, at Columbia Cliff Villas, ushered me into the private suite that would be mine for the duration of my stay in Hood River, Oregon I had an immediate feeling that rain or shine – I was going to be just fine. From the view of the mountains that immediately greeted me across the great room, to the private balcony attached to the master suite to the soaking tub which also had a view of the river and the mountains to the fireplace in every room … there was no reason for me to complain about being “trapped” inside! For that matter, there was no reason I’d ever need to leave my suite!

Every day I woke up, I had to drag myself out of bed because it was so comfortable I felt as if I was actually sleeping on clouds (or whatever it is they make beds out of in heaven). When I finally did wake up, I’d eat breakfast on my private balcony serenaded by bald eagles or by the musical notes of the rain on the river. Inside, I could leave the windows open to continue the mesmerizing sound of river waves or gently falling rain – or, I could enjoy reading a book wrapped up in a blanket next to a roaring fire. Every night I would pour myself a glass of wine and soak in the tub, erasing the burn in my sore muscles from a day of exploring in the mountains. undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedI’ve never enjoyed spending time indoors so much. Late one afternoon, sitting on my private balcony, I enjoyed a whole rain storm and the double rainbow that appeared over the river once the sun had broken through the clouds.

Of course, the Columbia Cliff Villas are beautiful in rain OR shine. The architecture reminded me more of Italy than Oregon and that was just fine with me. When I finally did leave, it was with a heavy feeling in my heart. I could have stayed forever. You can – the Columbia Cliff Villas are available for ownership in addition to vacation reservations. Beautiful. I do think after and during rain can make the most gorgeous pictures. I especially love that picture with the rainbow. What a gorgeous place. It looks so tranquil and relaxing. With the sound of the rain, I’m not surprised you didn’t want to leave that room.
