Testing the Lensbaby Circular Fisheye for Photography

Lensbaby has a new product that debuted in April called the Circular Fisheye.

They were kind enough to allow me to test it and while I don’t think it’s an everyday shooting lens, I can see how having it in my arsenal will be a great thing in certain situations and when I really want to have some fun with otherwise ordinary subjects. In short: I like it!So far, it’s been with me around NYC and it traveled with me to Zion National Park during the road trip I recently did out west.

It will retail for $299 and is currently available for pre-order through B&H, Adorama and Amazon. It requires the user to shoot fully manually and these are the specs:

I previously used other lenses by them during my wedding photography days and I was pleased to see that construction has come a long way since then. This lens is very solid, not made of plastic and attaches firmly to my Nikon D3100. It is also made in a Canon mount.

A few test shots, straight out of camera, unedited:

I did receive this lens from Lensbaby at no cost to myself however, I was not paid nor required to write this review and all opinions are my own.
