I grew up a snow bunny in the mountains of New England (Vermont, specifically) but the older I get the more I discover if there is a loyalty fence when it comes to favorite places – I might be switching sides. 2011 brought with it trips to Barbados, the Bahamas, Mexico and Jamaica. Already this year, I’ve worshipped the sun on the beaches of Costa Rica and Puerto Rico.
What’s the draw?
Do I actually need to spell it out …
I certainly loved my week in snowy Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival. It felt a bit like going home. Last year in Seefeld in Tirol was a welcome “blast from the past”. It was so much like my favorite ski town in Vermont, Stowe. I’ll always enjoy the mountains in any season and I do appreciate the clear, deep breaths that don’t always come easy yet seem to be a medicine the ocean can’t duplicate.
Still — I think I’ve been seduced by sun, sand and tropical locales! I’m a city girl who calls NYC home these days but – I’m one who escapes to a place where all I need is a bikini when I really want peace.
Can you relate? What’s your favorite place to visit?
My trips to all of these locations, but Puerto Rico, were complimentary. However, the views and opinions expressed here are my own. That is why when I did have some free time to take an actual vacation this month, I headed for the sand and sun once more.
You just saved my day… I was dreary — but now I remember the sunshine and warmth!! Someday soon!!
Awh!! Yay 🙂 So glad I was able to help — and yes, it’s always, only a flight away.
Yeah, you definitely didn’t need to spell it out, your pictures are gorgeous. Hard to pic a fave, but mine is the one with the hammock, it looks like it’s waiting for someone 🙂
Thanks Pete!! The one with the hammock is one of my favorites too … that was taken during my 30th birthday trip to Mexico and I definitely enjoyed that particular spot many times.
Wow – love these pics. Wish you were here and I’d point to my favorite.
Favorite place to visit? Too tough to pick.
(Thanks, too, for your continued focus on giving back – that’s awesome!)
Glad you enjoyed the photographs — and I wish you were here too to point out your fav!!!!! 🙂 I know what you mean about it being too hard to pick a favorite place. I had to try and do it for the ABCs of travel post. But usually, I’m hard pressed to narrow it down.
Ugh! It’s so beautiful outside and I’m stuck in an office! These photos are booth relaxing and infuriating, haha
Oh no Chris. Sorry?! — I tend to look back at my photos as a mini escape whenever I am somewhere not as nice. I can relate to being stuck inside, a travel writer spends just as much time holed up writing (if not more) than they actually do out experiencing.
Great shots! I love the tower-looking clouds in the 4th photo down. Been thinking I need some beach time in my future, you may have just pushed me to do it sooner rather than later. 🙂
Thank you Matthew! Means a lot. You’re a kick arse photographer yourself. — Yes, beach time!! It’s so helpful. The one place I can usually actually relax.
I’m right there with you, hun. When I was younger, I hated the sun and the beach with a passion. Now I can’t get enough of it. I miss the Caribbean coast so bad. I’m just glad I get to visit the Californian coast come Easter.
