I personally believe that the National Park System is the best thing about the United States of America. To me, the park system is our greatest national treasure. And particularly as a photographer and a traveler, my favorite benefit of being a citizen of this country. I haven’t yet been to all of our parks. But I have been to many. Some of my most poignant travel or photography memories have been made in our National Parks.
That’s why I wanted to share the below from the National Parks website:
Each April, during the presidentially-proclaimed National Park Week, we join with the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, to celebrate America’s treasures. National Park Week is a time to explore amazing places, discover stories of history and culture, help out, and find your park!
Get ready to celebrate National Park Week 2019 from April 20 to 28! Parks across the country will host a variety of special programs and events. To kick off National Park Week, all entrance fees are waived on Saturday, April 20! There are also special days during the week to highlight the different ways you can enjoy your national parks.
Will you join me in celebrating our National Parks? Here are some photos I’ve taken before in National Parks or National Monuments and protected areas…
Alaska – Denali National Park and Preserve

Arizona – Grand Canyon
California – Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Lassen Volcanic, Redwoods, Yosemite

Hawaii – Waimea Canyon on Kauai

Montana – Yellowstone

Utah – Zion National Park

Will you visit a Park for free, TODAY?
This is by no means official, nor sponsored, nor am I in any way affiliated with the NPA. I just really love, as I said before, our parks! National Park Week also has these specific days earmarked to celebrate specific elements of the Parks.

4/21 – Military and Veterans Recognition Day
4/22 – Earth Day
4/23 – Transportation Tuesday
4/24 – Wild Wednesday
4/25 – Throwback Thursday

Such beautiful photos! I haven’t been to most of these, but I do love the Grand Canyon.
It’s fantastic isn’t it! I haven’t been to enough of the Grand Canyon but I am grateful I made it there at all – now I want to go back and see more of it.
These photos are just amazing!
Thank you for sharing these jewels with us.
Zion National Park is just an incredible place, I just love its beautiful yellowish valleys.
Thank you for the comment! I agree Zion is also outstanding. We went there together in our early years of dating and loved the hike to Angel’s Landing.
